Extension & Outreach
UConn Extension connects the residents of Connecticut with the expertise of the state’s land-grant university. UConn Extension’s programs related to fruit production provides training for new and beginning farmers, ongoing support and consultations for existing fruit producers, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) services, field days, conferences, continuing education credits, and the production of pertinent grower resources. All of these programs will benefit from the establishment of the UConn Fruit Orchard. Outreach efforts will be enhanced with this orchard serving as a site for stakeholder demonstrations as well as a place to hold Extension events, including field days and production workshops, and also engage with the local community.
